Blog

A blog is a website where the different entries come according to chronological order. However, it is displayed in inverse chronological order. The term blog can be used as a verb. It means “to maintain or add content to a blog.”

History of Blog:
The digital communities such as Usenet was available when blogging was not popular. Internet forum applications such as WebEx helped in communication. Many online commercial services like Genie, Bix were also available. The concept of modern blogging came from the idea of online diaries. It was a personal account of a person';s life. Those who used to write in these online diaries called themselves journalists or diarists. Another old age form of blog was Wearable Wireless Webcam.
 It is also an online diary which has the option of sharing. It combines text, video and pictures. Personal home pages were also available. It was also an early form of blog.

In the year 2001 the concept of blogging became popular in America. Several political blogs were hosted on the internet. The most popular early political blogs of America was Bob Somerby's Daily Howler and Mickey Kaus' Kausfiles. The first one was launched in the year 1998 and the second one was launched in the year 1999. other popular political blogs of America include Jerome Armstrong's MyDD, Andrew Sullivan's AndrewSullivan.com, Charles Johnson's Little Green Footballs, Ron Gunzburger's Politics1.com, Glenn Reynolds' Instapundit, and Taegan Goddard's Political Wire.

By the year 2001, blogging became quite popular and primary techniques and how to do manuals also began to appear. Everyone took notice of the concept of blogging and its importance started to increase. Various prominent schools of journalism began researching and tried to find out the difference between blogging and journalism. In the year 2002, tye blogs gained popularity as a form of communication which can break and alter a news. One of the major example of blogging is found during the Iraq war. The bloggers got divided into two halves on the basis of difference in point of views. It became a way of expressing opinions about various issues which have social importance.

Blogs used to draw attention to topics which are obscure in nature. Those who indulge in blogging usually gives instant commentary on televised happening and events. Thus a secondary meaning of the word blogging came into being. Many started to feel that blogging is to instantaneously rewrite and editorialize events and speeches exhibited on television.

Types of Blog:
Blogs can be divided into various types. The distinction between shares can be made on the basis of content. The different genres of blog are travel blogs, project blogs, legal blogs, political blogs, fashion blogs and niche blogs.

Blogs can also be divided on the basis of type – Media type and Device type. The media type of blogs include linklog, vlog, photoblog, sketchblog and tumble logs. Moblog is related to mobile phones.

Problems related to blogging:
Blogs have brought a wide array of legal liabilities and many other unexpected consequences. On major area of concern regarding blogging is that it publishes confidential information.
