New Media

New Media is a term used for various types of electronic communication. The term is in contrast to the old media like newspaper, magazines, etc. New Media is a new genre of communication. The new media includes Web sites, mobile computing, Web advertising, chat rooms, virtual reality environments, digital cameras, online communities, audio and video, e-mail, Internet telephony and DVD and CD-ROM media. The development of new media began after 1980's. Till 1980s the definition of media was different. At that time media was largely depended on print media and other broadcast media like television and radio. Development in the media industry was experienced from the last twenty five years. The concept of old media was transformed after the advent of computers especially after the advent of Internet.
The concept of print media has also changed with the coming of new technologies like software which helps in manipulating images. Adobe Photoshop is one also a popular. New media mainly depends on digital technologies. New media can also be called a s digital media.

The new media technologies is developing like anything. Earlier we used to watch movies on videocassettes but these days DVD has become an entertainment medium. Mp3 player and CD player has become one of the major medium of entertainment. Listening to songs on Mp3 or Ipod has become a latest trend. The technologies that include new media is only 25 years old. Web site is one of the types of new media. It is accessed through Internet and contains documents, photos and videos which helps the users to gain information. Millions of people access web sites to gain information and knowledge. The web sites contains many important files and documents that can be viewed publicly. New media would be incomplete if we won't discuss email. Email or electronic mail is a popular medium of communication via Internet. This communication network helps the users to communicate with people sitting around any corner of the world. Email is a fast way of communication and around the world more them millions of people use this to communicate with their friends. Email is used extensively because it is fast and flexible. One can sent messages photos and videos to each other through email. This online service takes minutes to exchange messages. New media is the result of new software. The computer softwares has given new dimension to the new media.

Mashups is also a popular new media. It is a web application which combines data from various sources. Then days blogs are very popular which is a web site in which entries are written on various things like music, movies, etc. Technology is developing like anything and in the past 25 years the world has experienced tremendous development. The new media is developing at a fast pace giving the people numerous options to communicate and enjoy.
